Thursday Films is a film and television production company specialising in dealing with real and contemporary issues through drama and documentary. The company is comprised of writer/director Philip Blake, and producers Alexander Magill and James Lyall Robertson. Thursday Films’ latest production "Pictures" is a short HD drama starring Andrea Corr and Neil Pearson, written and directed by Philip Blake and Produced by Alexander Magill.
'Pictures' is a dramatic and compelling short film which explores Fabricated or Induced Illness (FII) in what is probably its most disturbing manifestation - when a parent deliberately harms his/her own child. This chilling work of fiction is designed to raise awareness of FII and the difficulties it poses for the medical practitioners and the different agencies involved in child protection.
The story focuses on Donna as she is interviewed by a police inspector, Matthew, in a hospital holding room. As the interview progresses, we are gradually drawn into the cold systematic nature of this form of child abuse and the psychology behind it, leading to a shocking conclusion.
After the shoot, offline edit and the sound mix, Thursday Films were seeking a reliable high spec facilities house capable of processing footage shot on HD CAM, in which to do an online edit of their film. Fullrange provided dry hire of facilities with attentive round-the-clock on-site technical support. Fullrange also provided grading of the film done by in-house colourist Simon Cox using Final Cut’s Color. Finally, we mastered the finished film back onto HD CAM, and onto JPEG 2000 for distribution to cinemas.
